There has been an ever increasing amount of information from the former USSR (samizdat or underground press) that suggests that certain authoritarian institutions in the USSR engaged in the practice of “mental reorientation” of numerous individuals who were classed as political dissenters. The Soviets were well aware of the benefits and applications of parapsychology research. The major impetus behind the Soviet drive to harness the possible capabilities of telepathic communication, telekinetics, and bionics are said to come from the Soviet military and KGB.
